The 3 differentiated example texts contain conversations between the female protagonist and her elder sister when she is bored and looking for someone to play with.
Differentiated feature find worksheets with answers are included – perfect for sharing in class or uploading during online lessons for remote learning.
All resources are differentiated three ways.
The model texts are useful as WAGOLLs to examine before children attempt their own dialogue writing based on the book.

The following features of dialogue and speech can be found in the example dialogues (depending on level of difficulty):

The fronted adverbial worksheets are differentiated three ways. A six week literacy unit of work based on Stig of the Dump by Clive King for Years 3 & 4, with 30 complete lessons, including all plans, presentations and resources.
This scheme of work for Lower Key Stage 2 contains the following:

An example diary text based on Chapter 7 of the Victorian novelStreet Child by Berlie Doherty with Feature Find sheet and answers, and word bank.
The diary entry is written from Jim’s point of view on the day he decides to run away from the workhouse.

Example text demonstrating dialogue writing with direct speech based on the historical novel Street Child by Berlie Doherty, set in Victorian London.
The model text contains a conversation between Jim’s sisters, Emily and Lizzie, about the break-up of their family. Three differentiated versions of the text have been included for different ability levels.
The model text can be used as a WAGOLL to examine using the differentiated Feature Find worksheets (answers included) before children attempt their own dialogue writing based on the book.

• New paragraph every time the speaker/character changes
• Actions of the characters showing feelings/personality
• Split speech: one sentence spoken but split into two by the reporting clause
• Split speech: two or more sentences spoken at once split into two by the reporting clause

• No reporting clause used when speaker is obvious
